Back in time

Now this is something I found hard as a young girl to let go of and just see it as a series. I so wanted to be Anne as I was in love with this program, her character (she was so different and her own person) and Gilbert … (AT THE TIME ;-) ). Luckily I have moved on since then :-D .

If I look away maybe she won’t notice that I am lying on this extremely comfortable coat under the pc desk. Nope, that did not work.   Photobucket

You want me to move? Make me! Bring it on sister! I am just in the mood for a cat fight.

Candy Crazy

#2 in the

Crazy Bunch Collection:

A bunny in the making, but I made a different pattern so they are not all exactly the same.

Photobucket

I did have to make a second one because the bunny above was to big for the small fleece that I had left over.

Photobucket

Make sure you stitch everything on FIRST before you sew both halves together.

And here is the finished result.

Mindy Misfit + Candy Crazy

Summery:

  • I bought some bonderweb, but was too lazy to cut it out and ironing it on so I just stitched everything on without it. Not really happy about it because it just highlights laziness. It also means that the patches will probably fray more than they would with it.
  • I made sure to leave a bigger opening this time and it worked out fine. I also closed it up using the ladder stitch this time which looks really tidy and “professional”. Well, at least better than Mindy Misfits seam and this is what is all about. You can only get better with practice.
  • I bought a bigger bag of purposely designed stuffing which works out a lot better than cotton wool.

Something new again

Right now I am slightly bored with the fitness side of life and can’t say that I have done much lately. My focus is more on yoga and although my physical side is improving, the spiritual side is not quite following. Well, it can’t be forced and I am sure it will all fall into place one day.

While searching the net for yoga teacher training, which by the way is a right pain for timings and fee, I stumbled across something that pulls me in a different direction again. This is not a good thing as I am to scattered as it is, but as some off it has elements of yoga in it I can use it as an excuse :-D .

Where am I going with this? Let me throw the word(s) belly dance into the ring. I want to stop you right there if you are thinking about the traditional type of dance. No disrespect to anybody, but that is really not my thing. Instead, I stumbled across some different forms that absolutely captivated me to the point that I want to learn it.

Kami Liddle

Rachel Brice – just bought her DVD

Ariellah – just bought her DVD

Sorry, I have to stop here. I could list so many more fantastic videos, but if you are interested just browse youtube.

I mention this in terms of yoga because the DVD’s that I just bought use a lot of yoga moves to warm up and to get supple. See, I still get my yoga done as well. Hm, maybe the only thing that I will get done as I have to left feet, but you never know. The good thing is that the town we might move to (more on that when I know what’s going on) has a belly dance school there. Yes, traditional dance and apparently good as a base, but they also offer some tribal, fusion, gothic style every now and then to learn. I am throwing words around that I really have no clue about how to connect them to the dance, but you get it when you surf youtube. There are some amazing dancers out there and I don’t find this style at all cheesy (like traditional belly dance. Sorry!) but mesmerizing and extremely sexy without looking cheap (like pole dancing or what ever).

Kids :o(

I went out to the park with my kids this morning to play football/ basketball in the cage. While running around some people were setting up behind us to fly their kites. Very impressive and my son just sat there watching wanting to join in. I told him to inquire about it because I assumed they belong to some sort of kite club (if there is such thing), but he said that they are a group of elderly (40 ish) and he would be out-of-place. WHAT????? Elderly???? You are here with your mother getting your butt kicked shooting some hoops (he is more of a football player rather than basketball) and I am the same age as they are (give or take some years). I give you ELDERLY!!!!!!

Kids! Sometimes I am not sure if they are just to honest, careless, thoughtless, to direct …. I was having a right hissy fit and he was just giggling. He does not tar me with the same brush because to him I am not yet that old… “You better shut up now because you are digging yourself in even deeper.”

Yeap, the clock is ticking before I turn 40 at the end of this year, but as the saying goes:

I am still far away from twin set and pearls (no, no boob tube and mini skirt either) and just can’t see myself ever being like that. You are as old as you feel. Cliché? Maybe, but it works for me. Instead of starting to slow down because I am getting “older” I do it the other way round. I took it a bit easier when I was younger and now I am bringing the fitness side into my life. The discussion is still ongoing if we put on weight when we get older because the metabolism is slowing down or is the metabolism slowing down because we do less physically?

Elderly!

What takes you back to years (long) gone? I get this with certain smells, but also books, pictures, films … and in this case I like to show you 4 of my favorite films (at the time) that I loved to watch when I was still younger. Youtube is a wonderful thing :-) !

Murder She Said

Murder Ahoy

Murder Most Foul

Murder at the Gallop

Utter classics in my opinion that cannot be beaten by any other Miss Marple that followed. All episodes are here and show up on the side bar at youtube for you to watch. It has been that long that I couldn’t even remember anymore ‘who done it’, which is either a good thing or a bad thing depending how you look at it.

So, get a cuppa and some needlework and enjoy.

Take 2

Our son complained about the fact that our daughter got a pillow (see entry Mistakes do happen) and he did not :-) . Although I do think the colour is a bit girly he does not care so I made him one with a skull.

Photobucket

I have to say again that I do not enjoy Appliqued as you can tell by my work.

Photobucket

I find it extremely boring and caught my mind wandering numerous times which means I mucked it up in some areas because I was not concentrating.

Photobucket

All in all it did not work out to bad and I also made sure to put the closure the right way round this time ;-) .

Photobucket

The pillow case itself is done really quick, but the appliqued seems to take for ever with drawing, cutting, pressing, sewing … Yawn! I still want to make myself one, but that will be it.

The mouse is in the house

Flicking through my new Sew magazine issue 16 today I stumbled across the following pincushion on page 75.

Photobucket

I had to try one although there is no pattern or any explanation with it. It is just a photo of a project from a book to be won (or something on those lines). I therefore made my own (rough) pattern, picked some material and got started. I don’t think it worked out to bad for my first try.

Photobucket

It definitely needs some redefining, but all in all not a bad start.

Photobucket

I do have to admit that I feel slightly cruel putting pins in the back :-( .

Photobucket

I have filed the mouse with cotton wool again, but I am not to happy about it. It is either me, or shaping with cotton wool does not work out very well. It is also hard to get needles in in some areas where the cotton is stuffed tighter. Need to find something better for stuffing.

These are the pattern pieces for the mouse that I could make out from the photo.
